it's time for a spring reset

it's time for a spring reset

post january something happens, not sure if it’s impeding resolutions that we said we’d stick to starting to feel a bit real, or just the sun coming out and the days getting longer, but it feels like the perfect time for a reset.

but also… it can be a bit daunting. we’re not all marie kondo and keeping everything organised all the time isn’t that easy. they say 'things get worse before they get better’, and this is definately the case when having a spring clean.

get ready for there to be piles of mess everywhere, but don’t worry, we have the tips to get through that bit first. and once you do, you end up with a space that feels lighter, clears your head a bit, and actually helps you get back on track with things.

♥︎ don’t clean everything. pick one area and finish it.
the fastest way to spiral is trying to reset your entire life in one day.

instead:
- pick between clothes or skincare or your desk or your digital life
- finish it fully before moving on

better to finish a little bit at a time rather than overwhelm yourself with the whole task and not be able to finish it

♥︎ use the “would I buy this again?” rule
it’s time to be brutal. vinted exists for a reason so sell what you don’t use to make way for everything you will

hold something and ask:
if i saw this in a shop today, would i spend money on it again?
if the answer is no, it’s not part of your current life. it’s just taking up space in it.

♥︎ your products aren’t neutral, they’re energy
half-used serums you don’t like. expired makeup. that one moisturiser that breaks you out but you “might use”.
you might not realise it, but they all quietly drain you every time you see them.

reset your shelf to:

  • things you actually reach for, cough cough your groa lash + brow serums
  • things that feel good to use
  • things that make your routine feel like you

less clutter = less decision fatigue = better habits

♥︎ make it impossible to be messy again
this is where most resets fail. don’t rely on discipline, redesign your space:

  • put a laundry basket where clothes actually end up
  • keep your everyday products visible, not hidden
  • remove storage you don’t use (yes, even the aesthetic boxes)

your space should work with you, not test you.

♥︎ the 10-minute “closing shift”
this is the habit that keeps everything from collapsing. it’s important to wind down before going to bed, we call it the ‘10 minute shift’

every night:

  • reset surfaces (desk, bedside, bathroom)
  • put things back where they belong
  • prep one small thing for tomorrow

think of it like closing a shop. you’re setting future you up to walk into something calm.

so the moral of the story is, take it step by step, don’t overwhelm yourself and put things into place to prevent build-up happening again.

it doesn’t need to be perfect, and it definitely doesn’t need to happen all in one day. even just clearing one corner, one shelf, one drawer can make everything feel a bit more manageable.

a spring reset is really just about making things feel lighter. and once that’s done, everything else feels a little easier to get back on track with too.
